Commentary and Citation

The Content Editor allows you to add inline commentary and citation, and they are rendered as footnotes in HTML and PDF book and as endnotes in EPUB book.

You can add commentary, one or more citations, or both. When you specify both commentary and citation, you can use designated formatting string to indicate where references should appear in your sentence.

For simple inline commenting, use Commentary field only. For citation, all references entered in Reference Manager are displayed for quick lookup, and you can select one or more references.

Automatic Reference Formatting

Based on citations, bibliography is generated automatically for HTML, PDF, and EPUB books. At the moment, Lacuna Books supports Chicago style, but more styles such as MLA and AMA will be supported in the future. References in the footnotes and endnotes use a short form in which author's last name, title, and location are displayed.
