Lacuna Books is a writing and publishing tool for students, technical writers, and authors. It has two goals— first, provide tools for writing and organizing efficiently; second, create beautifully crafted digital books.

It's Ruby on Rails in the backend, uses PostgreSQL as data store, runs on Heroku, and uses Amazon EC2 for supplementary processing.
